SUPPORT FOR THOSE SELF ISOLATING (posted December 22 2021)

This is a temporary page with links and useful Covid-19 information for residents and businesses in the Square Mile.

January 20 2022 – The City has launched an additional grant scheme for SMEs because of the Omicron variant (see link below).
https://news.cityoflondon.gov.uk/city-corporation-to-launch-new-covid-19-recovery-grant-scheme-for-square-mile-smes/

Rising numbers in positive COVID-19 cases mean that more people may be required to self-isolate over the Christmas and New Year holidays. Please note that contacts of positive cases may no longer need to self-isolate in certain circumstances (such as if they are fully vaccinated), but are strongly advised to test daily for seven days (https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/when-to-self-isolate-and-what-to-do/).

NHS volunteers can help people access shopping, medicine and other essentials if they are self-isolating. Additionally, the City of London website lists the support offers available on the Help with Food and Money web page – https://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/services/housing/covid-19-financial-support. Those needing to access support by phone can call 0207 606 3030. Latest Advice can be found on this web page – https://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/services/covid-19-government-information-and-support

I understand that some of your constituents (and neighbours) may not be able to access websites and some of those that can, might not know what’s on offer. Please can I ask of you to reach out to your constituents (and neighbours) to make sure that they are safe, have what they need and let them know how to access support.

A special edition of City Matters https://www.citymatters.london/latest-edition/  is out with advice and guidance regarding Covid.

Please remember, take care of yourselves as well as others. Test regularly, get your vaccine and booster, and look out for latest Government guidance.

Thank you for continuing to come together to support those around you throughout the pandemic.

Please use your networks to share information on support available for those having to self-isolate.

Warm wishes and season’s greetings,

Andrew Carter

Chief Officer/Executive Director Community & Children’s Services

Get Government help if you are vulnerable

If you have received a text/ letter from the NHS that you are in the “extremely vulnerable” group, or if you are vulnerable, please register to receive government support services.

What you should do

The City of London Corporation is dedicated to ensuring that we protect the most vulnerable, support our residents and continue to provide key services during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

The latest Government instruction is to stay at home and:

  • Only go outside for food, health reasons or essential work
  • Stay two metres (six feet) away from other people
  • Wash your hands as soon as you get home

Some non-essential services may need to be closed or operate at reduced levels to support social distancing for staff and service users.

Some people may need extra support at this time, and we are actively encouraging good neighbourliness and support through established local community groups.

Washing your hands is one of the easiest ways to protect yourself and others from the virus. The NHS provides guidance on hand-washing.
